Healthy Eating and Exercising
I have a pretty busy and hectic lifestyle at the moment. I work 2 jobs; 7 days a week, and take 2 online classes right now; that would include homework, and of course I have a personal life. I tend to be rushed most of the time, and eat whatever is easy and fast. I hardly ever eat breakfast because I don't have time. I rather sleep than work out when I do have time because as soon as I wake up it's back to craziness. I eat a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast; or something of that kinds with water, fast food for lunch, and fast food for dinner if I have time to stop and buy something, if not I don't eat dinner. I work ten hours daily 5 days out of 7, so when I get off work I do homework and go to bed. Everyone tells me to slow down, to take a vacation, but I don't have time to slow down. I rather sacrifice now and be able to enjoy later.

WOW! Your lifestyle is busy and hectic, but you should make the time to eat healthy and exercise so that you will be able to enjoy life later. I once heard a health professional say, “You may not take the time to eat healthy today, but you will make time to go to the doctor tomorrow.” An unhealthy lifestyle has a price ticket on it. By eating fast food consistently the body is not getting proper nutrients that it needs to stay healthy, and avoid some type of diseases. One piece of information I found to help stop eating fast food and I should be the first to do this is, stop taking time in fast food lines; use that time shopping for food. Buy enough food for one week to avoid wasting time returning to the grocery store. Cook a large batch of food, enough for some lunches and dinners during the week, refrigerate or freeze these foods so you can quickly reheat them. Remember breakfast is a very important part of the day, so don’t skip it. Store cereal in zip lock bags so you can take it on the go, fill a water bottle with orange juice the night before so you can grab it on your way out the door. Cut up fresh fruit and vegetables on your lunch break, so you have quick snacks during the week, portion out food into zip lock containers/bags so you can just grab it and go.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few exercise tips that can be incorporated into your lifestyle:
• While sitting at your desk, lean slightly forward, grip the sides of your chair, and alternately raise your left and right knees to your chest.
• When picking up items from the floor, turn it into a workout routine. Stand with your feet apart, arms at your sides. Bend slowly from the waist and touch the floor, flexing your knees if you to. Count to 10 before straightening.
• For an aerobic workout while doing housework, warm up with a light activity such as dusting or washing dishes, then proceed to vigorous vacuuming, sweeping, or floor polishing for 20 - 30 minutes. Upbeat music may help keep you moving.
• When dusting high areas such as tops of cupboards or a high self, stand with your feet apart and hold the dust cloth in both hands, bending form side to side to wield it.
Hey Jasmine
ReplyDeleteI can understand where you are coming from, trust me! But I will challenge you to think about the future what good will money, and a degree do you in the future if you have a worn, diseased body as a result of not caring for yourself? I know that there are things that we must do to get ahead in life but start with baby steps. Walk at breaktime, park further, take the stairs vs elevator. Oh and I know just where you are coming from with the fast food but while you are at work in between make you a menu for the week. Then take a day to prepare what you can, cook bigger portions to freeze for later or/an take left overs to work. You will be surprised how much money you will save and you may even have more energy. Have you ever noticed how you feel after eating certain foods, especially fastfood. Jas, trust me I will be making an effort to take my own advice. lol
Wow Jasmine that is extreme. You do need to slow down girl that is more hectic then I've heard before. However, you manage to get things done. We all have eaten fast food forlunch or dinner. In some was I don't blame you with 10hours handling work especially with dealines can be troublesome to even think about being healthy. Either way ot goes I hope you taking good care of yourself the best way you can.
ReplyDeleteWell Jasmine I also have a life like yours and to add to it I have 2 daughters. A good advise I can give you would be to cook on your days off several healthy meals for the week and refrigirate them like this when you get home or for lunch at work you would just have to heat up your healthy meal and this would also save you money.
